Burkina Faso's Minister of State for Agriculture, Commandant Ismaël Sombié, presented the results of the 2025-2026 dry season agricultural campaign. The report indicates a significant overall increase in horticultural, cereal, and tuber production. Horticultural output reached an estimated 1,469,371 tons, a 14.4% rise compared to the previous season, attributed to public policies supporting land and water management. Cereal production saw a 5% increase, reaching 55,141 tons, while root and tuber production also rose by 5% to 61,512 tons. These improvements reflect enhanced agricultural productivity despite security and climate challenges. Investments in infrastructure, including boreholes and irrigated perimeters, alongside subsidized agricultural inputs and improved seeds, have supported this growth.
The substantial increase in agricultural production in Burkina Faso demonstrates progress in food security and agricultural development despite challenging conditions.
