Tajul Islam Questions Slow Pace of July Genocide Trials

Former Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Muhammad Tajul Islam, has expressed concern over the slow progress of trials related to the July genocide. He questioned why investigations have stalled and no new trials have commenced in the past four months. Islam emphasized the urgency of completing these trials to prevent future unrest. He also noted that four cases concerning crimes against humanity during the July uprising have already resulted in convictions, including death sentences for 13 individuals, among them former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Islam was removed as Chief Prosecutor in February.
