Proposed Ban on Large Trawlers Near Normandy Coastline
La ministre déléguée à la mer et à la pêche Catherine Chabaud a annoncé, jeudi, envisager d’« exclure » les bateaux de plus de 25 mètres de la bande côtière française de l’est de la Manche, jusqu’à 12 milles marins, c’est-à-dire un peu plus de 22 kilomètres de la côte.
Catherine Chabaud, the French Minister Delegate for the Sea and Fisheries, has announced plans to potentially exclude large fishing vessels, specifically those over 25 meters, from operating within the French coastal strip of the eastern English Channel. This proposed exclusion zone would extend up to 12 nautical miles, approximately 22 kilometers, from the coast.
This proposes a significant regulatory change in fishing practices that could impact marine ecosystems and the fishing industry along the Normandy coast.
