A court in Quito has sentenced Gorky Adolfo P. N. to 26 years in prison for the femicide of his ex-partner, a radiologist identified as E.F. The verdict came after scientific evidence presented by the prosecution conclusively disproved the defense's claim of suicide. The court found that the victim died from asphyxiation by strangulation, contradicting the accused's assertion that she had injected herself with propofol. Forensic analyses revealed manipulation of the crime scene, including the placement of syringes and anesthetic vials to mislead investigators. A forged suicide note, matching the perpetrator's handwriting, was also discovered. The trial also uncovered evidence of economic violence, with a significant sum transferred from the victim's account to the perpetrator's.
This 26-year sentence for femicide in Quito highlights the successful use of scientific evidence to counter false claims and bring a perpetrator to justice.
