The Albanian government has approved the implementation of a joint border control system, known as 'One Stop Shop,' with North Macedonia. This initiative will initially be deployed at the Qafëthanë border crossing and is planned for expansion to other crossings. This decision follows North Macedonia's recent approval of a similar system with Albania. The agreement aims to streamline border procedures for passengers and goods, enhance cross-border cooperation, and reduce waiting times, particularly during peak travel seasons. This marks the completion of establishing such systems with all three neighboring countries not part of the Schengen Area, following similar arrangements with Serbia and Kosovo. The implementation is expected to facilitate faster and more secure border crossings.
