Croatian Community in Serbia Celebrates Day of Ivan Antunović with Calls for Historical Reconciliation
SVEČANOM dodjelom priznanja u području obrazovanja na hrvatskom jeziku u Srbiji u Subotici je, u nazočnosti više hrvatskih ministara i srbijanskog Marka Đurića, okončana cjelodnevna proslava praznika hrvatske zajednice - Dan rođenja hrvatskog bačkog biskupa Ivana Antunovića.
The Croatian community in Serbia commemorated the Day of Birth of Bishop Ivan Antunović with a ceremony in Subotica. The event, attended by Croatian ministers and Serbian official Marko Đurić, honored achievements in Croatian-language education. Davor Ivo Stier received an award for his contributions to education, while top students were recognized with special accolades. Croatian Minister Gordan Grlić Radman emphasized Croatia's support for the community, and Minister Nataša Mikuš Žigman announced funding for cross-border infrastructure projects. Serbian Minister Marko Đurić expressed a desire to 'write different pages of history' in bilateral relations and pledged continued support for the Croatian community. The celebration highlighted ongoing efforts to foster better relations between Croatia and Serbia.
The event underscores the cultural and educational ties between the Croatian minority in Serbia and Croatia, while also serving as a platform for diplomatic dialogue on improving bilateral relations.
