Stranded Nigerians in South Africa Face Hunger and Homelessness Amid Repatriation Flight Delays

Hundreds of Nigerians awaiting repatriation from South Africa are enduring severe hardship, including hunger and homelessness, due to delays in scheduled flights. Many have exhausted their savings after traveling for registration and screening, only to be left stranded without adequate support. Rev. Frank Onyekwelu, President of the Nigerian Citizens Association South Africa, urged the Federal Government to expedite the evacuation and provide emergency humanitarian aid. Reports also emerged of alleged poor treatment and humiliation during the registration process. Onyekwelu called for immediate deployment of relief and facilitation of remaining flights to ensure all registered Nigerians return home safely.
