The Belém City Hall has dismissed Aiuá Reis Queiroz, the superintendent of the Municipal Secretariat of Culture (Secult), following allegations that jurors from the 2026 Carnival parades had not yet received their payments. The exoneration order was signed by the chief of staff to the mayor. The City Hall stated that it has initiated measures to investigate the claims and reaffirmed its commitment to upholding principles of legality, ethics, and responsibility in public administration. Payments to the jurors, who were selected through a public process to evaluate the parades, will be processed according to regulations. Each juror was entitled to R$ 750 gross per day worked.
This action addresses financial irregularities in public administration and ensures accountability for public funds.
