Police in Tarauacá, Acre, have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal beating of Luiz Carlos Ferreira de Araújo, 29, in February. The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was apprehended in the 'Invasão do Zequinha' area. He had reportedly fled the capital after the crime and was hiding in the municipality, approximately 400 km from Rio Branco. Authorities state that other individuals involved in the crime have also been identified. The victim was found with severe head and facial injuries, and pieces of wood believed to be the murder weapon were found nearby. The suspect has been transferred to a penitentiary in Tarauacá.
This arrest addresses a violent crime and demonstrates ongoing efforts to bring perpetrators of serious offenses to justice.
