Federal Police in Piauí seized a shipment of 256 ampoules of tirzepatide, a substance used in weight-loss medications, along with 14 packages of peptides, illegally transported on a tourist bus. The cargo, originating from São Paulo, was destined for Picos. During a routine inspection on BR-316, officers discovered the undeclared items, which lacked fiscal and sanitary documentation. The sale and transport of these products are prohibited in Brazil by Anvisa. Tirzepatide is an active ingredient in medications for type 2 diabetes and obesity, often referred to as 'slimming pens.' The police noted that improper transport without refrigeration could compromise the product's quality and pose health risks. The seized items have been handed over to the Federal Police for further investigation into the illegal distribution network.
