Burkina Faso's Ministry of Secondary Education announced that the 2026 BEPC (Brevet d'études du premier cycle) examination achieved a pass rate of 54.06%, the highest in the last fifty years. This result represents a 5.6 percentage point increase from the previous year. The exams also saw high participation, with over 218,000 candidates for the BEPC, along with significant numbers for the BEP and CAP. The Sirba region recorded the highest pass rate at 59.74%. Minister Pr Moumouni Zoungrana attributed the success to a peaceful school year, educational reforms, improved exam management systems, and better candidate preparation. The pass rate for technical and vocational education also saw a notable increase. Measures against exam fraud detected 115 cases.
