Tajikistan and Georgia have agreed to form a joint intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation. The two nations also intend to expedite the launch of regular direct flights between them and expand collaboration in trade, investment, transport, tourism, education, and culture. These agreements were reached during Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's official visit to Tajikistan on June 19-20. Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with Kobakhidze, and the two sides signed 11 documents, issuing a joint communique outlining future cooperation. Key areas of focus include economic and investment cooperation, with discussions on joint investment projects, production chains in promising sectors, and e-commerce development. Agriculture, light industry, mining, pharmaceuticals, and green economy projects were identified as potential growth areas. Both leaders expressed interest in practical steps to enhance economic ties, citing the competitive advantages of their respective economies.
The establishment of a joint commission and plans for regular flights between Tajikistan and Georgia signal a significant strengthening of bilateral economic and cultural ties.
