Toulouse Releases 120,000 Sterile Male Mosquitoes to Combat Tiger Mosquito Population

Toulouse has initiated a program involving the release of 120,000 sterile male tiger mosquitoes. The primary objective of this initiative is to significantly reduce the local tiger mosquito population, aiming for an 80% to 90% decrease within three years. This method employs a prevention technique against the insect, which is known to be a vector for various diseases. The sterile male mosquitoes mate with wild females, but their offspring are non-viable, thus controlling population growth.
