Corruption Allegations Daily, But Investigations and Cases Stalled

Despite daily submissions of corruption allegations, investigations and subsequent legal cases remain stalled at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Bangladesh. The commission has been in a state of paralysis for over three and a half months following the resignations of its chairman and two commissioners. This deadlock prevents the initiation of new cases, the submission of charge sheets to courts, and crucial activities like asset seizure or travel bans. ACC officials report that nearly all significant operations have ceased due to the absence of commission approval, which is required for such decisions. While hundreds of files are pending, the lack of leadership has brought the ACC's core functions to a standstill, raising concerns about accountability and the fight against corruption.
