A new visualization created from NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) data offers a colorful overview of the agricultural landscape in South Africa's Maize Triangle. The false-color composite uses shades of green, red, and blue to represent vegetated areas, unvegetated surfaces, and the rate of change within vegetated zones during the 2025-2026 growing season. This technique allows scientists to distinguish between different crop types and understand their growth patterns based on radar observations that penetrate beyond surface color.

This advanced radar imaging provides a novel way to monitor agricultural health and productivity, crucial for food security and understanding land use changes.
