Recent national testing in Australia reveals a concerning decline in digital literacy among students. Only 37% of Year 10 students met the proficient standard for ICT literacy in 2025, a significant drop from 46% in 2022 and the lowest rate since testing began in 2005. Similarly, the proportion of Year 6 students meeting the standard decreased from 55% to 50%. This trend is surprising given students' extensive reported use of digital devices.
