‘A great set of lingerie’: Georgie Tunny’s must-haves for a comfy but chic wardrobe

Each week, we quiz a prominent person about their style and the inspiration behind it. Ahead, journalist Georgie Tunny.

How would you describe your style? Elevated dog walker. But I don’t have a dog, so the other version of that is comfortable chic.

What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe? It’s a tie between a Taylor Swift concert tee from The Red Tour in 2013 and an Alexander Wang “Emile” handbag that I bought off Facebook Marketplace.

And the most recent addition? A blue striped men’s rugby jersey I bought from Kmart for $25 that I’m living in.

What would you wear … on a first date? On my first date with Robert [Mills] I wore a navy star print Realisation Par “Alexandra” wrap dress and heeled boots. … on a plane? Lululemon “Groove” flare tights, a Uniqlo hoodie, and I’ll often wear my Ganni chunky Chelsea boots to save room in my suitcase. … on the red carpet? I wore a black Monot mini dress with a silver sequin skirt to Glamour on the Grid and I don’t think I’ve ever looked better.

What’s your favourite fashion era? I would’ve been good in the ’80s – shoulder pads and huge hair are my thing.

Who are your favourite designers? I love Viktoria & Woods, Hansen & Gretel and Henne. Also Meshki for trousers and Lover for leather pants.

What’s your fragrance of choice? My go-to is fragrance enhancer “I Don’t Know What” by D.S. & Durga, which I wear on its own or with my other favourites such as Le Labo “Thé Noir 29” and Tom Ford “Tobacco Vanille”.

What are the three essential items in your wardrobe? Viktoria & Woods jeans, a boxy white tee and a great set of lingerie.

Any go-to jewellery? I love jewellery; in another life I’d be a jeweller. I wear Sarah & Sebastian earrings in my eight ear piercings. Chunky, mixed metal rings by Millie Savage – I like to look like my hands have fallen into a pirate’s chest. I also wear pieces by ToniMay, HLSK and White November.

Can you remember a favourite outfit you wore as a child? Yes, rugby shorts from the Canterbury store. Growing up in Brisbane, “ruggers” were the cool thing to wear.

What was your first fashion moment? At the Logies last year when I wore what can only be described as a Disney princess Cinderella gown – a beautiful powder blue gown by Effie Kats.

And your worst fashion mistake? Brushing my hair. I have curly hair, borderline ringlets, and when I was younger, I hated it. I’d brush it and it would just be fuzz. I like my curls now, but it’s been a journey.

What’s on your wish list? I’m obsessed with Heated Rivalry and all their fashion choices but mainly the jewellery. I want the Michael Hil
