Kano State Government has shut down two private health training institutions in Nasarawa Local Government Area over what it described as regulatory violations and failure to meet the minimum standards for operating health training schools in the state. The affected institutions are IBN SINA College of Health Science and Technology, located at Dakata Kawaji adjacent to Juma’at Mosque, and Life Line College of Health Science and Technology, situated at Dakata Industrial Area, Bela Road, Tsamiyar Gare, along Mai Sikeli Street. The state Ministry of Health announced the closure in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Public Relations Officer, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, saying the action followed a comprehensive assessment which found both institutions to be operating illegally. According to the ministry, the two schools were neither properly verified nor approved by the Kano State Ministry of Health and also lacked accreditation from relevant professional and regulatory bodies responsible for health education and training in the country. The statement added that investigations uncovered major deficiencies in the institutions, including inadequate qualified teaching personnel, poor learning facilities, insufficient infrastructure and non-compliance with established educational and operational standards required for effective health manpower development. The ministry further said the institutions failed to adhere to professional ethics, regulatory guidelines and other mandatory requirements put in place to safeguard the quality of healthcare education and ensure the competence of future healthcare professionals.
