The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms and rainfall in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada until June 26. The monsoon has advanced towards Pune and Raigad, with weather conditions favourable for its further progress in Mumbai and other parts of the State. The IMD continues to predict rainfall at isolated locations in Konkan from June 22 to June 26, with moderate to heavy showers in Madhya Maharashtra and light to moderate rainfall in Marathwada during the same period.
For Konkan, IMD has predicted rainfall at isolated locations from June 22 to June 26. Madhya Maharashtra will see thunderstorms with lightning, winds, and moderate to heavy rainfall during the same period. Marathwada is likely to receive thunderstorms with lightning, winds, and light to moderate rainfall between June 22 and June 24.
The monsoon, which had remained stable in Harne in South Konkan and Solapur in Madhya Maharashtra for two weeks, has moved towards Pune and Alibaug in Raigad district. The IMD stated that weather conditions are favourable for the monsoon to advance in other parts of the State, including Mumbai.
While isolated thunderstorms are being recorded in the State, most areas continue to experience dry weather. The monsoon arrived in the Konkan region on June 6 this year. Typically, the monsoon reaches most parts of the State around June 15-20. This year, even as June ends, the State has not recorded rainfall at satisfactory levels. Weather patterns have been changing since June 21 and conditions are favourable for the further progress of the monsoon.
