Two critical after spate of stabbings across Queensland
Two men are fighting for life and others have been hospitalised after a night of violence involving a series of stabbings and crashes.
Police responded to a spate of stabbings across Queensland on Saturday night that saw multiple people hospitalised, including two men who were critically injured.
In Brisbane’s east, several people were injured in an alleged stabbing at a home on Aster Street in Cannon Hill about 9pm.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said a man with significant chest and leg wounds was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a life-threatening condition.
A teenage boy with a hand injury and a man in his 20s with facial wounds were also taken to the same hospital in stable conditions.
In Far North Queensland, a man remained in hospital after an alleged stabbing on Captain Cook Highway at Ellis Beach, north of Cairns, about 10.55pm.
The QAS spokesperson said the 48-year-old was taken to Cairns Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition with a chest wound.
Queensland police allege the incident followed an argument between two men, with a 45-year-old from Wulguru in Townsville charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
The condition of the injured man, from Speewah, west of Cairns, was later downgraded to stable. A police spokesperson said the pair were known to each other.
Another alleged stabbing, at Kumbarilla in the Western Downs, left a man in his 20s with multiple arm wounds.
The QAS spokesperson said he was stabbed on the Moonie Highway about 9.33pm and was taken in a stable condition to Dalby Hospital.
Paramedics were also kept busy with a number of serious crashes throughout the night.
Several people were taken to hospital following a three-vehicle collision on the northbound Pacific Motorway at Greenslopes about 6.28pm.
Ambulance crews took a teenager to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a stable condition with neck injuries. A woman in her 30s and two other teenagers were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in stable conditions.
Also sent to the PA was a teenage girl with head injuries, which the QAS spokesperson said were sustained after she fell from a moving vehicle on Old Cleveland Road, Capalaba, about 8.20pm.
At Pormpuraaw on Cape York, two men were injured when a vehicle crashed into a tree on Rirranth Street about 10.20pm.
One sustained minor head injuries and was taken to the local clinic in a stable condition, while the other, in his 20s, suffered significant head injuries and was taken to the clinic in a life-threatening condition.
A man in his 40s was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on Cemetery Road at Howard, north of Maryborough, about 7pm. The QAS spokesman said he was taken to Hervey Bay
