A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on leaders and members of the party to close ranks ahead of the August 15 governorship election in the state. Oyintiloye made the appeal in a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, urging members to work together to secure victory for the party’s flagbearer, Bola Oyebamiji. The former member of the Osun State House of Assembly said internal cohesion within the party remained critical to winning the election, warning against actions capable of undermining its chances. He warned that “bitterness, careless remarks, unguided utterances and anti-party activities” must be avoided, adding that such conduct could undermine the party’s electoral prospects. “It will be a costly mistake for the party to go into the election divided. Unity and a common purpose are essential for victory,” he said. Oyintiloye also urged party leaders and elders in the state to urgently address grievances and dissatisfaction among members, noting that unresolved internal disputes could affect the party’s chances. That is why I am appealing to all members to come together and resolve whatever differences we have. APC is cruising to victory,” he added. He described Oyebamiji as a “sellable candidate” with the capacity to win the election and called on members to support his candidacy ahead of the poll. The chieftain expressed optimism that with the support of APC leaders, including Chief Bisi Akande, former governor Gboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and other stakeholders, the party would return to power in Osun State. The call for unity comes amid reports of internal tensions following the party’s recent primaries. The PUNCH reports that Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central) rejected the outcome of the party’s primary election for the 2027 cycle, where Adekunle Adegoke was declared the winner. Bola Bamigbola
