Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Rahul Pandve has passed an order banning Muharram in eight villages of Yadgir district.

The Deputy Commissioner’s order restricts public procession during the festival scheduled till June 28 across the district.

The villages where Muharram is banned are as follows: Arkera (K), Godrihal, Nazarapur, Tumkur, Madhwar, Putpak, Tatalgera and Shirval.

The action came with a view to maintaining peace and ensuring law and order in these villages.
