REDnote Launches AI Search Assistant 'Diandian' on PC

REDnote(Xiaohongshu) officially launched its AI search assistant "Diandian" on PC on May 29, accessible directly via a dedicated domain. The AI assistant transforms REDnote's traditional keyword search into a conversational interface, leveraging the platform's extensive repository of user-generated content spanning travel guides, home renovation, beauty and skincare, and workplace tips. Diandian supports multi-turn dialogue, allowing users to refine queries naturally—for example, starting with "weekend family trip ideas in Shenzhen" and following up with "must be free, not crowded, and allow camping." The AI optimizes answers contextually without requiring users to re-enter conditions. It can also import users' previously liked or bookmarked notes as contextual background for more personalized responses. The assistant's responses are accompanied by original source notes displayed alongside, complete with social engagement metrics—likes, saves, and comments—providing transparent attribution. REDnote positions Diandian as a "life decision AI" drawing exclusively from its in-platform UGC content. Diandian is not REDnote's first AI search attempt. Previous features including "Sousou Shu," "Da Vinci," and "Wen Diandian" were either embedded within the platform with low visibility or quietly retired. Diandian is REDnote's first AI project to have a standalone app, and the PC launch extends its reach from mobile to desktop, completing a multi-platform strategy. The launch comes amid intensifying competition in the AI search space. Industry analysts from Gartner have predicted that traditional search engine query volume will decline 25% by 2026, prompting platforms from Douyin to WeChat to accelerate their AI search investments.
