Quiz: Are you smart enough to understand the Scripps Spelling Bee?
We don't think you'll have even heard of most of these words, never mind how to spell them.

The Scripps National Spelling Bee isn't your average spelling competition for kids.
Last week, Californian Shrey Parikh, 14, took out this year's top prize, correctly spelling 32 words in just a minute and a half.
But of the 35 questions in the competition, none are really in common usage.
We're not going to test you on the spelling today. Honestly, you've got no chance. But do you know what these words mean?
Here at the ABC, we use the Macquarie Dictionary as our source of truth, but many of these words aren't included, so we're using Scripps's dictionary of choice, Merriam-Webster, for this quiz.
