Acharya Nagarjuna University faculty members presented research papers on key social development issues at the Joint Conference on ‘Social Work, Education, and Social Development’ held from June 26 to 29, 2026, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, bringing global attention to contemporary challenges faced by marginalised communities.

According a press release here on Monday (June 29), PG Board of Studies in Sociology and Social Work chairperson Prof. Saraswati Raju Iyer presented a paper titled, ‘Need for Social Work Intervention in Combating Violence against Women in Indian Society.’

PG Board of Studies in Economics chairperson and Head of the Department Prof. K. Madhu Babu presented a paper titled, ‘Social Worker's Role in Strengthening Livestock and Fisheries for Rural Food Security of Marginalised Communities.’

The four-day international conference attracted around 1,500 delegates, including academics, practitioners, development professionals, researchers and students from nearly 150 countries. The presentations highlighted the university’s academic contributions to addressing global social issues through research, with emphasis on gender justice, rural livelihoods and food security. The event provided an international platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among scholars and professionals working in the fields of social work, education, and sustainable development.
