SEOUL, June 30 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean baseball league reached over 7 million fans for the season in record-setting fashion Tuesday.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said the total attendance for the season amounted to 7,013,844 after four games played across the nation Tuesday. The league reached 7 million in 388 games to beat the previous record of 405 games from 2025.

The KBO established a single-season record with over 12.3 million fans last year and is currently on pace to top that number this year.

The league has cleared every million milestone in record-breaking pace, and needed only 13 days and 54 games to go from 6 million to 7 million -- both of them new records.

With one contest rained out, the four games that took place Tuesday had a combined 60,280 fans, including 21,411 that watched the Doosan Bears beat the Lotte Giants 5-0 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul.

According to the KBO, teams are averaging 18,077 fans per game, up 8 percent from this point a season ago. Nine out of 10 clubs have enjoyed an uptick in attendance this year. The Giants have seen their average fall slightly from 20,728 to 20,111, but they are one of four teams to draw more than 20,000 fans per game.

With 218 sellouts so far -- though none Tuesday -- the single-season record of 331 set last year is in jeopardy this year.
