South Central Railway (SCR) has notified the Veldurthi goods shed of Hyderabad division as an Exclusive Container Rail Terminal in order to create efficient logistics solutions closer to industrial clusters and production centres.

It has loaded the first container rake for dispatch to e-Inland Container Depot, Phillaur in Punjab under Firozpur division of Northern Railway, demonstrating the growing integration of India’s logistics network and the ability of Railways to connect industries across regions seamlessly.

The inaugural rake carried 2,760 tonnes of Pig Iron, introducing a new commodity to the freight basket generating estimated freight revenue of ₹59 lakh. CONCOR has committed to load three container rakes every month from the terminal.

SCR general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava appreciated the efforts of Hyderabad Division in capturing a new traffic and later, gave away safety awards to five employees in recognition of their dedication and alertness in preventing unsafe conditions including three from Secunderabad and one each from Hyderabad and Nanded divisions. The awardees include loco pilots, pointsman, assistance traction distribution (electrical) and keymen, said a press release.
