PowerChina files for permit to build metro tunnel

PowerChina filed a request for a construction permit to build a 2 kilometer tunnel under central Belgrade, the eKapija portal said on Tuesday.

PowerChina (Power Construction Corporation of China) is one of the main contractors building the Belgrade Metro, including tunnel works. The permit is for the construction of the Belgrade Metro Line 1. The Chinese company is the main contractor for Metro Line 1 including tunnel sections, stations, shafts and the procurement of tunneling machines.

The request for construction permit was filed with the Belgrade city Urbanism and Construction Affairs Secretariat.

The Serbian government has already defined the public interest to expropriate land for the tunnel.
