JAKA Robotics, a Shanghai-based company headquartered in the Minhang District's Dalian Bay innovation hub, has launched the JAKA Pi, a compact humanoid robot standing 1.22 meters tall and weighing 42 kilograms. The robot represents the company's transition from an industrial collaborative robot maker to a general-purpose intelligent robotics firm. The JAKA Pi features 27 degrees of freedom with integrated joint modules that are 15 to 27 percent smaller in diameter than previous generations. Its knee joint delivers 120Nm of torque, enabling stable locomotion, while each arm can carry a 3kg payload for light manipulation tasks. The robot measures just 1220 by 420 by 220 millimeters, making it one of the most compact humanoid robots available in its class. A key innovation is the fusion brain architecture developed on Intel's high-performance heterogeneous computing platform. The architecture separates computing into two distinct domains. The cerebrum handles AI reasoning, vision algorithms, and application logic through large language models, emphasizing computing power and ecosystem compatibility. The cerebellum manages real-time motion control via an EtherCAT bus running at millisecond-level latency, prioritizing determinism and stability. This division allows JAKA Pi to complete the full loop from understanding verbal commands to planning and executing physical actions with smooth coordination. JAKA Robotics positions the robot primarily for education and research, entertainment, exhibition guiding, and elderly companionship. In university AI labs and vocational schools, it serves as a complete embodied intelligence teaching platform supporting secondary development and interdisciplinary experiments. In tech exhibitions and commercial events, it handles guided tours,讲解, and performances. The launch follows JAKA Robotics' 2025 brand upgrade from collaborative robot company to general-purpose intelligent robotics company, establishing a dual-drive strategy combining industrial collaborative robots with embodied intelligence products. The company has partnered with Shanghai Jiao Tong University to establish a joint research center for general-purpose intelligent robotics, focusing on embodied intelligence and smart sensing systems.
