The NATO-led KFOR said on Wednesday that the combined Golden Sabre 2026 exercise would be staged at Camp Vrelo outside Pristina over the next 2 days.
“On 02 and 03 July 2026, personnel from the NATO-led KFOR mission, the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), the Kosovo Police, and the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will conduct a joint exercise at Camp Vrelo, called “Golden Sabre 2026”. The Kosovo Security Force (KSF) will also participate, in accordance with its original civil protection mandate,” a press release said.
It said a large number of personnel, vehicles and equipment will be deployed in the area and nearby communication routes. “The exercise will test the application of crisis management capabilities, skill-sets and procedures in a number of complex security scenarios, including those involving the safe handling and disposal of explosive devices and hazardous materials,” it said.
The press release quoted KFOR Commander Major General Özkan Ulutaş as saying that “the joint exercise symbolizes our continued, strong commitment to fostering mutual cooperation and coordination, for the benefit of all living in Kosovo”.
