SRCE leader Ponos questioned about sonic weapon statements

Opposition SRCE party leader Zdravko Ponos MP told N1 that the police questioned him about his statements on the alleged use of a sonic weapon against protesters in Belgrade in March 2025.

The Higher Public Prosecution in Belgrade said that Ponos was interviewed over his “untrue post on the X network in March 2025 in which he was the first to claim that a sound cannon was used against protesters”.

Ponos was summoned for questioning by the Criminal Police Department (UKP) in Belgrade. The questioning is part of an investigation ordered by prosecutors into what Serbian regime officials have called a plan to fabricate the incident in order to overthrow the government.

He said he was at the UKP for more than an hour being questioned as a private citizen about the so-called sonic cannon and his contacts with military analyst Aleksandar Radic whose home and office were searched as part of the investigation. Radic left the country with his 16 year old daughter following the search and questioning by police.

Ponos, a former Serbian Chief of General Staff, said he was told by the police that they are gathering information about his X post. “They asked me if I was at the protest and what motivated me to post that Vucic shot his people,” he said. “I told them that there were 3 elements to my view. First, I saw it in a TV report, the 2nd is my profession and the 3rd is my knowledge that the police had the device illegally and kept that secret which later proved to be true when the police chiefs and Minister (Ivica Dacic) lied that the police did not have the device, then that it was never out in the street but in storage and then that it was on the street .. and later when Dacic claimed that he ordered the mode that could have been used blocked,” he said.

He said a record of the first 10 minutes of the interview was released to the pro-regime Informer TV while he was still at the UKP.
