Over 230 kg of ganja destroyed in Villupuram Range

The police on Tuesday destroyed ganja weighing 233.10 kg at Thenmelapakkam in Chengalpattu district. The contraband formed part of several seizures made in various districts in the Villupuram Range . The ganja was destroyed in the presence of Deputy Inspector General of Police (Villupuram Range) A. Arularasu and Cuddalore district Superintendent of Police Vivekananda Shukla. According to the police, a total of 233.10 kg of ganja, seized in 213 cases registered at different police stations in Cuddalore, Villupuram and Kallakurichi districts, was destroyed. Ninety cases were registered in Villupuram district, followed by 88 in Kallakurichi and 35 in Cuddalore district. The contraband was destroyed safely at a private bio-medical waste disposal unit at Thenmelapakkam in accordance with legal procedures. Senior officials from the respective districts were present when the seized contraband was destroyed in an incinerator.
