Woman on way to work killed after college bus hits scooter in Kukatpally

A 50-year-old woman was killed and the rider sustained injuries after a college bus rammed their two-wheeler from rear in Kukatpally on Wednesday morning. The deceased, Jangli Laxmi, a resident of Bhavani Nagar in Moosapet, had recently taken up a job at a hotel in Ameenpur, where she used to chop vegetables. According to the police, Laxmi was travelling as a pillion rider on a scooter ridden by Kesari Anand Kumar, 60, who had been dropping her to work every day for the past week as he was employed in the same area. At around 7.45 a.m., while they were travelling from Moosapet X Roads towards Ameenpur, the accident took place near a junior college in Kukatpally. Police said a bus belonging to MLRIT College struck the scooter from behind. The bus driver, identified as Gadupu Krishna, was driving at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner. The impact threw Laxmi onto the road, leaving her with severe head injuries. She died on the spot. Anand Kumar sustained minor bleeding injuries. A case has been registered against the bus driver based on the complaint, and further investigation is underway.
