Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has again ordered the indefinite suspension of three Special Advisers and two Supervisory Councillors of Auyo Local Government Council with immediate effect. This is coming on the heels of similar suspensions of political aides at the state level in recent weeks. PUNCH Online learnt that the move comes as political tension in the state heats up following the recently concluded APC primary election. It was observed that at the moment, the political atmosphere in Jigawa has been tense since the APC primaries, with several incumbent lawmakers across different state constituencies losing their return tickets during the exercise. Our correspondent reports that among those affected was the member of the House of Representatives for Hadejia/Auyo/Kafin Hausa Federal Constituency, who failed to secure the party’s ticket for the 2027 general election. The latest suspension is contained in a statement issued by the Jigawa State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Ibrahim Hannun-Giwa. In the statement, which was made available to journalists on Tuesday morning by Najib Umar, Public Relations Officer of the ministry, said, “The suspension was approved by the Jigawa State Government through the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development.” According to the PRO, the suspension affects five appointees of the Auyo Local Government Chairman. “The Jigawa State Government, through the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development, has approved the suspension of the following Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers to the Chairman of Auyo Local Government Council with immediate effect,” Najib Umar stated. He listed the affected officials as Bala Energy, Supervisory Councillor, and Abdullahi Usman, also a Supervisory Councillor. Others are Afake Auyo, Special Adviser; Ussaini Biyuta Kataudi, Special Adviser; and Kande Auyo, Special Adviser, the statement added. Furthermore, the ministry directed all affected appointees to hand over government property in their custody without delay. “All affected appointees are hereby directed to hand over all government properties and responsibilities in their possession to the Director of Administration and General Services of the Local Government with immediate effect,” Najib Umar said. The PRO emphasised that compliance must be prompt. “This directive must be complied with promptly,” he stressed in the release. No official reason was given for the suspension in the statement. However, the timing suggests it may be connected to ongoing political realignme
