A 28-year-old nurse was killed after a speeding container truck allegedly rammed into his two-wheeler at Kalyan Nagar Junction under the jurisdiction of the Banaswadi Traffic Police Station on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Kelvin, 28, a native of Tamil Nadu who was residing in Ramamurthy Nagar. He was employed as a nurse at a private hospital in Bengaluru.
According to the police, Kelvin was returning home on his motorcycle after completing his shift when the accident occurred near Kalyan Nagar Junction.
A container truck passing through the junction allegedly hit his bike. The impact threw Kelvin off his motorcycle onto the road, following which the rear wheels of the truck ran over him.
He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accident was caused by the rash and negligent driving of the container truck driver, who was allegedly speeding at the time.
The police have arrested the driver and seized the container truck. A case has been registered at Banaswadi Traffic Police Station, and further investigation is in progress.
