Northern Territory police officers have found and arrested Isaac Thompson, 26, who escaped from custody on Sunday night.

Police say officers found the remand prisoner "at a location in Darwin River" and that he was arrested "without incident".

Mr Thompson allegedly has links to the the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang, and is the third person associated with the group to escape NT custody in the past month.

Remand prisoner Isaac Thompson escaped corrections custody on Sunday night while being escorted from an ambulance into the Royal Dawin Hospital's emergency department.

Police said he was handcuffed and wearing only shorts and socks at the time.

Police have alleged Mr Thompson — who also goes by the nickname Baby Shark — is a "known associate of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang".

Yesterday, in a statement, police reissued a call to the public, with a spokesperson saying police believed he was being "assisted by known associates".

Police are searching for remand prisoner Isaac Thompson, 26, who they say is a "known associate" of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang, after he escaped custody during a medical transfer.

This afternoon, an NT Police Force spokesperson said officers had apprehended Mr Thompson.

"Officers from the Fugitive Taskforce arrested him a short time ago at a location in Darwin River without incident," they said in a statement.

Police have not said whether charges will be laid against Mr Thompson in relation to absconding custody.

NT court listings reveal Mr Thompson was due to appear in the Darwin Local Court on Monday this week for a directions hearing on drugs and weapons charges.

Mr Thompson is the third man with alleged links to the Mongols to escape from custody in the NT in the space of the past month.

Two weeks ago, police reported a 31-year-old alleged "known association of the Mongols" escaped custody while under the supervision of corrections at Royal Darwin Hospital.

His escape only lasted eight minutes before he was caught and re-arrested.

Earlier in June, patched member of the Mongols, Brandt Graham, 44, fled the dock in the Darwin Local Court, triggering a five-day city-wide manhunt.
