Member of Vance's protective detail subject of investigation, Secret Service says

A member of Vice President JD Vance's protective detail is the subject of an internal investigation and potential criminal inquiry "involving allegations of compromising operational and information security," according to a Secret Service spokesman.

Last week, MSNow published a story about agents on the Vice President's detail being "fed up" with the hastily arranged travel, including taking his son to a golf lesson on a helicopter. The story caught the eye of senior leaders at the Secret Service and FBI, a source told ABC News.

The suspension comes as senior Secret Service officials told reporters on Wednesday they've handled 10,000 threat-related cases for their protectees this year, including President Donald Trump, noting the threats are increasing in volume and complexity.
