Falcons camp swells ahead of Senegal friendlies

The Super Falcons camp in Ikenne, Ogun State, is coming alive with the arrival of 11 players as of Tuesday evening ahead of their double-header friendlies against Senegal, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala, Serie A Women’s Best Defender Shukurat Oladipo and Turkey-based Kafayat Shittu were among the first arrivals on Monday, while eight more players joined the camp on Tuesday.

Players who arrived on Tuesday include Nottingham Forest Women striker Joy Omewa, Galatasaray defender Tosin Demehin, midfielder Toni Payne, Blessing Nkor, China-based Folashade Ijamilusi, goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, experienced midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene and Roma striker Omorinsola Babajide.

Head coach Justine Madugu had called up 23 players for the friendlies, which will serve as preparation for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco from July 25 to August 16.

The 10-time African champions will take on Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi in Group C.

Ahead of the tournament, the Super Falcons will face Senegal on Friday, June 5, with a second match between both teams scheduled for Monday, June 8. Both games will take place at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne-Remo.

More players are expected in camp before the team intensifies preparations for the two friendly matches.
