No new negotiations planned despite Trump comments, U.S. officials tell CBS News

The U.S. military said on X Monday that it has redirected 44 commercial vessels under its blockade against Iran.

U.S. forces have disabled two vessels and boarded another two, according to CENTCOM.

President Trump said earlier in a Truth Social post that nothing will get through to Iran "unless a Deal, or Total Surrender, is accomplished."

After he again backed down on further attacks against Iran to allow for negotiations, President Trump was asked what his message is to the American people.

"Well, you don't know, I don't know, I think we're going to maybe get something," the president told a reporter in the Oval Office. "But I want to give them every last chance before decapitation. Very tough to do what we have planned, still planned. We'll see what happens."

"I'm very proud of the fact that I will give people, I'll give people a chance," he added.

The president told reporters that people will find out "today or tomorrow" about how talks with Iran are going.

"I mean they're going to go quickly, one way or the other. It's not very complex," Mr. Trump said. "We're talking about the strait, the opening of the strait, having it open, literally by tomorrow. Completely open. And that's phase one, and phase two is we then will talk about the nuclear capacity … the denuclearization of Iran."

Iran says it's not talking with the U.S. directly at the moment, although Mr. Trump insisted that talks begin today.

Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday that Iran's foreign minister has been invited to visit Pakistan.

Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke on the phone Monday with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi "to discuss key regional and international developments."

"They exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the deteriorating situation in Occupied East Jerusalem," the Foreign Ministry said in a post on X. "DPM/FM invited Foreign Minister Araghchi to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience."

An expanded Lebanese delegation will travel to Rome on Tuesday for the latest round of U.S.-mediated talks with Israel, according to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, aimed at moving ahead with implementation of the framework agreement signed in Washington on June 26.
