The curtain may have fallen on the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, but English football’s top flight is heading straight into one of its busiest off-seasons in recent memory, with a FIFA World Cup, transfer activity, fixture announcements and European competitions all packed into a hectic summer schedule. An update retrieved from the EPL website by our correspondent on Wednesday revealed this. The transition to the 2026/27 season will officially begin in early June with the Premier League’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), where newly promoted Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City will formally take their places among the elite. The trio replace Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley and West Ham United, who dropped out of the division following relegation. Attention will then shift to North America as the FIFA World Cup gets underway on 11 June across the United States, Mexico and Canada. The expanded 48-team tournament will run until 19 July, with Premier League players represented across every club in the competition. The summer transfer window opens on 15 June, allowing clubs to officially register new signings as they reshape their squads ahead of the new campaign. Just four days later, supporters will get their first glimpse of the road ahead when the full 2026/27 Premier League fixture list is released on 19 June. All 380 matches will be published at 10:00 BST, enabling clubs and fans to begin planning for the season. The release will be especially significant for Coventry City, who return to the Premier League for the first time since the 2000/01 season after winning the Championship under Frank Lampard. As the World Cup enters its final stages, Premier League players not involved in the tournament will begin returning to training in early July.
