Earlier, the federal government's budget bill passed the House of Representatives without amendment, but it will need the support of the Greens to pass the next step.

The Greens have raised concerns about the ministerial discretion contained in the budget bill.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says an "ideological disagreement" exists between Australia and the United States on tariffs, after Washington proposed slapping a 12.5 per cent tariff on Australian imports.
