A Transperth bus has crashed into a tree in Wanneroo leaving a 50-year-old man critically injured and four people with minor injuries.
A WA Police spokesperson told WAtoday the bus hit a tree on Joondalup Drive around 11.05am.
“Emergency services attended the scene. Multiple occupants of the bus sustained injuries. Inquiries remain ongoing,” they said.
Eight St John WA crews are on the scene including special operations paramedics.
“It looks like there are five patients, one who looks to be critical and is possibly already on the way to Joondalup [Health Campus] on priority one,” a St John WA spokesperson said.
A Public Transport Authority spokesperson confirmed the accident and said the vehicle involved in the crash was a route 390 bus.
Meanwhile, south of the river, the St John of God Murdoch Emergency Department is temporarily closed after a vehicle crashed into the building this morning.
A WA Police spokesperson confirmed they responded to reports of a crash at the hospital at about 10.10am.
“A vehicle and a pedestrian were involved in a collision, before the vehicle subsequently collided with the hospital building,” they said.
“The male driver and male pedestrian are both receiving medical treatment, with the pedestrian to be conveyed Royal Perth Hospital.”
The hospital posted to their website to alert patients about the closure.
“Our private emergency department is temporarily closed,” the hospital wrote.
“The nearest 24/7 Emergency Department is at Fiona Standley Hospital, across the road. Call triple-zero (000) for life-threatening emergencies. Thank you for understanding.”
