Four members of the National Youth Service Corps and a soldier have been confirmed dead in a road accident along the Yola–Mubi road in Adamawa State. The accident occurred on Wednesday at about 1:50 pm along the Narehi area of Girei/Song Local Government Area. The Adamawa State Police Command spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday. According to the statement, the crash involved a military gun truck travelling from Gombi towards Yola and a commercial Hummer bus conveying five passengers from Yola to Mubi. “The unfortunate incident involved a military Gun truck travelling from Gombi towards Yola and a commercial Hummer bus conveying five (5) passengers from Yola to Mubi. “Preliminary findings reveals that both vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, resulting in the commercial bus flipped over and burst into flames,” he said. The command also confirmed that a soldier attached to the military vehicle died in the crash. Police operatives and emergency responders evacuated the remains of the victims to the Specialist Hospital, Yola.
