Concerned stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress have unanimously rejected the outcome of the party’s governorship primaries conducted on Friday, May 22, 2026. The stakeholders comprising party executives, youth leaders, women leaders, local government officers, ward representatives, members, and supporters across the 33 local government areas of the state emphatically maintained that the former Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Chief Bisi Ilaka, won the primaries. They said the announced election results were not a reflection of the collective decisions and true wishes of members of the party. Reading from a communiqué on behalf of party faithful on Wednesday, ADC leader in Saki-West Local Government Area of the state, Barshir Lawal, called for a review of the declared results and restoration of the mandate they gave to Ilaka. “The declared result does not reflect the true wishes, collective decisions, and democratic choices made by party members during the primary election. “Our records and reports from party structures across Oyo State clearly indicate that Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka secured victory in twenty-nine (29) out of the thirty-three (33) local government areas of the state. “This position is not based on speculation but on verifiable facts that can be corroborated by leaders who participated in the process,” Lawal said. He added that the communiqué, addressed to the national leadership of the party and conveying deep dissatisfaction and outright rejection of the results announced by the electoral committee that oversaw the exercise, followed extensive consultations and meetings held across the 33 local government areas of the state. “After extensive consultations and meetings held across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State, we have unanimously resolved to register our deep dissatisfaction and outright rejection of the results announced by the electoral committee overseeing the exercise.
