The Compendium of Best Practices from States and Union Territories on Strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions (2026) prepared by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj has chosen three projects implemented by the Local Self-Governments department under the previous Left Democratic Front (LDF) government as best practices worth emulating.
The compendium recognises the Digi Kerala digital literacy project, Universal Palliative Care initiatives and the K-SMART digital service delivery applications as best practices. M.B. Rajesh, former Minister for Local Self-Governments, said in a Facebook post on Thursday (June 4, 2026) that the national-level recognitions are proof that the achievements of the LDF government are hard to be erased, despite several attempts to tarnish its image.
“As a Minister in the LDF government, I am very proud to have been a part of the work which went behind these historic achievements. This proves that even the political opponents cannot help but acknowledge the contributions and achievements of the LDF government beyond the electoral victories and defeats,” he said.
