TAWOMA gains stronghold in value addition as women fully engaged in mineral value chain

DODOMA: A major milestone has been recorded in Tanzania’s mining sector after women stakeholders signed a new agreement aimed at strengthening value addition and expanding women’s participation across the mineral value chain. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the Forum on Opportunities and Reforms for Women in the Mining Sector, bringing together key players committed to advancing women’s role in the industry. The agreement was signed by the Chairperson of the Tanzania Women Miners Association (TAWOMA), Tanzania Women Miners Association, Semeni John Malale, alongside the Managing Director of GGR, Sarah Masasi. ALSO READ: CCM calls on Tanzanians to uphold peace, unity and national cohesion According to information from the Minerals Ministry, the partnership is expected to boost women’s involvement not only in mining activities but also in processing, innovation, product development and both local and international markets. “The initiative will open up new opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and innovation while promoting sustainable development in the sector,” part of the statement from the ministry read.
