Former student in court over University of Surrey crossbow attack
A university campus safety officer was seriously injured in the attack in Guildford on Thursday.
A former student at the University of Surrey has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a member of staff who was shot with a crossbow on campus.
Almunthir Daqamah, 21, has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, two counts of possession of a bladed article and possession of Class B drugs.
Police said a campus safety officer in his 50s had been shot with the weapon at Manor Park Student Village in Guildford on Thursday. The victim remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Daqamah has been remanded in custody to appear at Guildford Crown Court in July.
Surrey Police said Daqamah was a Saudi national. This information has been released by the police consistent with national guidelines.
