Proddatur TDP leader G. Praveen Kumar Reddy received a letter by Speed Post, in which an unidentified individual threatened to kill him. The letter also mentioned “a repeat of 1982,” suggesting the possibility of a vengeful act.
Mr. Praveen has been in the news for levelling allegations as part of his ongoing tussle with fellow TDP veteran leader and incumbent MLA N. Varadarajulu Reddy.
According to sources, the person allegedly used a fake name, address, and mobile number in the letter. Mr. Praveen formally lodged a complaint with the Proddatur police on Friday (June 5, 2026).
Speaking to the media, Mr. Praveen said that his family had faced several attacks in the past and hence he would not be cowed down by the threatening letter. “Whoever you are, first reveal your identity and then threaten me,“ he said.
Mr. Praveen has been raising questions over alleged land grab incidents in his constituency. A similar letter was also sent to his close friend Pallapadu Chandra.
