In a landmark initiative aimed at harnessing the expertise of medical professionals across the globe for the benefit of pilgrims, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Friday launched the pilot phase of ‘Srivari Vaidya Seva’, a first-of-its-kind volunteer healthcare programme envisioned under the guidance of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
TTD Executive Officer M. Ravichandra formally unveiled a dedicated IT application designed to facilitate seamless registration of volunteer doctors and healthcare specialists from around the world.
Describing the programme as a transformative step in devotional service, Mr. Ravichandra said the initiative seeks to channel the knowledge and experience of distinguished medical professionals towards enhancing healthcare services for millions of devotees visiting Tirumala every year.
He said the programme would initially be implemented on a pilot basis, with feedback from participating doctors helping refine and expand the model. He noted that the TTD was emerging as a unique platform for professionals from diverse sectors, including healthcare, education and Information Technology, to contribute their expertise in the spirit of service.
“To encourage participation, the TTD will provide complimentary accommodation and boarding facilities in Tirumala and Tirupati for volunteers. Super-speciality doctors can offer services for three days, while MBBS practitioners will have the opportunity to volunteer for seven days,” he said.
Medical experts would serve across the TTD-run institutions, including Ashwini Hospital, SVIMS, BIRRD Hospital, Ayurveda Hospital, Sri Padmavathi Children’s Hospital and other affiliated establishments.
