A 37-year-old person working as a cashier at a petrol pump was booked by the Hyderabad Police for using a fake registration plate on his two-wheeler, resulting in traffic challans being issued to an unsuspecting vehicle owner.
The accused was identified as 37-year-old Shaik Ali, a resident of Naya Qila in Golconda.
According to police, Shaik Ali allegedly affixed the registration plate to his Honda Activa with the intention of misleading enforcement agencies and avoiding penalties for traffic violations. Investigators said the number was registered on another Activa owned by Anup Kumar Gupta, a resident of Tirumala Hills in Puppalaguda.
Police said the misuse of the registration number resulted in traffic challans generated for violations allegedly committed by the accused being issued against the legitimate vehicle owner.
During the investigation, police traced the actual registration number of the accused’s vehicle.
A case was registered at Langer House Police Station under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. Police issued a notice to the accused under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
Officials said the case was detected through coordinated efforts by the Hyderabad Traffic Police and Langer House Police.
